Moi Forest
Visual Identity, Packaging Design
-
The creative direction, branding, and packaging design for Moi Forest, an innovative skincare brand from Helsinki, required a careful balance between scientific efficacy and natural warmth. The brand's mission was to introduce a new skincare line that not only provides visible results but also benefits the skin’s and body’s microbiome.
The brand's flagship ingredient is Reconnecting Nature™, a microbial extract developed by Finnish universities that supports the body's microbiome when applied to the skin. This innovative ingredient has been scientifically proven to boost the body’s natural defense mechanisms, promoting both healthy and youthful-looking skin and boosting immune levels. The branding and packaging design needed to effectively communicate the benefits of Reconnecting Nature™ while evoking warmth, caring, and naturalness. The design approach focused on using natural and soft colors, which gave the brand a warm and gentle look. The color palette also had to be gender-neutral, to attract both men and women to the brand.
In addition to the color palette, the packaging design also incorporated natural and sustainable materials, further emphasizing the brand's commitment to nature and the environment. The packaging design had to be functional, protecting the products while providing an easy and enjoyable user experience. The product packaging was designed to be both elegant and simple, allowing the product's natural ingredients to take center stage. We collaborated with Stora Enso to create climate-friendly paperboard tubes that reduce plastic usage by 70%. The first three products have a polyethylene and aluminum barrier coating, while the newest product uses only polyethylene barrier coating for increased ecological benefits. The caps are currently made of recyclable PP plastic, but we are exploring the use of bioplastics like PHA. However, bioplastics cannot be recycled in Finland yet, so we are waiting for Stora Enso to develop a fiber cap or for better bioplastic recycling systems to become available.
